The trailer for Gour Hari Dastaan — actor and executive Ananth Mahadevan’s latest film, which has been doing a rounds of international and domestic film festivals — immediately grabs your courtesy since of a cast: Vinay Pathak, Konkona Sen Sharma and Ranvir Shorey.
The film is a biopic on a leisure warrior Gour Hari Das, but this isn’t a thespian story of a leisure fighter’s stately life. Instead, it’s indeed about a miss of glory. Pathak plays Gour Hari Das, a Gandhian leisure warrior who struggles to infer his temperament to a Indian bureaucracy.
On paper, India offers certain advantages to a leisure fighters, as a mystic interjection for their appearance in a nation’s struggle. For Das, however, claiming those advantages ends adult being a second, staggering struggle. He finds himself going from bureau to office, essay countless letters to explain his rightful pension, and assistance his son get acknowledgment into college.
As a trailer of Gour Hari Dastaan tells us, for 32 years, Das knocked on 321 doors, climbed 66,000 steps, wrote 1,043 letters, pleaded 2,300 times — all to simply infer his identity.
