When we design a large mill heads on Easter Island (a little pinch approach out in a Pacific) we substantially design only that — heads. Yet these implausible sculptures are so many more.

The statues, called moai, were built between a years of 1250 and 1500 CE by a Rapa Nui people, who creatively hailed from Polynesia. There are 887 of them in sum on a island, and a tallest of them is 30 feet high and weighs 82 tons. Despite their large size, there’s justification that many were changed around a island.

The carvings paint deified ancestors, and were creatively positioned to gawk out over their ancestral lands.
