Dubai: Former India captain Kapil Dev says the iconic Sachin Tendulkar “did not know how to make double hundreds, triple hundreds and 400 yet he had a ability” to scale such peaks and was “stuck in a Mumbai propagandize of cricket”.
“Don’t get me wrong, though we consider Sachin didn’t do probity to his talent. we always suspicion he could have finished most some-more than what he did,” Dev was quoted as observant by a ‘Khaleej Times’.
“He (Sachin) got stranded with Bombay cricket. He didn’t request himself to a cruel general cricket. we consider he should have spent some-more time with Vivian Richards than some of a Bombay guys who played usually neat and true cricket.”
“Sachin was a most improved cricketer though somewhere along a line he usually knew how to measure hundreds. He didn’t know how to make it a double hundred, or a triple or even 400s,” combined a 1983 World Cup winning India captain.
The good all-rounder, underneath whose captaincy India won a lass World Cup in 1983, pronounced he would have suggested Tendulkar to play like Virender Sehwag.
“He (Sachin) had a ability. He was technically sound though we felt he was there to get his hundred and that’s it. Unlike Richards, Sachin wasn’t ruthless, he was some-more of a perfect, or rather scold cricketer. Had we spent some-more time with him we would have told him ‘go suffer yourself, play like
Virender Sehwag’. You will be a most improved cricketer.”
The 56-year-old Dev done these remarks before a name throng during a Cove Beach Club during Jumeirah Hotel in Dubai alongside 3 other cricketing icons — Shane Warne, Wasim Akram and Ian Botham.
Spin fable Warne remarked that Tendulkar was special. “He is a smashing actor and in my 20-odd years of playing, he is a best batsman that we played against. The expectations he was underneath and a ability he had opposite quick and spin. The approach he judged a balls. He was good for a diversion of cricket and he was a illusory and smashing player. He dominated bowlers in a mid-90s and he was usually superb opposite any bowler. He also played unusually good opposite Australia,” pronounced Warne.
“I now see Sachin’s opposite side as we am now doing business with him. He is a smashing friend,” he added.
Pace bowling good Akram regretted for not carrying played most opposite Tendulkar.
“One of a regrets Waqar Younis and we had as a bowler is that we never played Test cricket opposite Tendulkar for scarcely 10 years,” he said.

“We played opposite Sachin when he done his entrance in 1989 when he was 16 and then, we played Tests opposite Sachin in 1999 in India. As Warne said, he was a best in a diversion and 100 general hundreds speaks volumes of his talent.”
When a former greats were asked to name a best they had played against, Kapil said: “I consider Viv in my time is a best we have seen. More than his cricket, it was a approach he played a diversion and his attitude. we desired to take his wicket all a time.”
Botham echoed identical sentiments: “Viv Richards is positively a best actor we have seen in all formats of a game. we don’t consider there has been anyone better. we remember in Old Trafford we left him in a raps and Michael Holding came out to bat and 200 runs later, Richards was 189 not out
— that was obscene. You play him outward a off branch with a packaged field, and he will crack we into a grandstand on a leg side. He never review a MCC coaching annual.”
Akram added: “When we started out, it was a good Viv Richards and a Little Master Sunil Gavaskar. we got out him out usually once. In a 90s, it was (Brian) Lara and Tendulkar.”
